These worked really well --- if they were just a touch wider in total diameter it would help to get a Powerade/Gatorade 20 OZ bottle in them. The bottle does fit but sometimes it becomes very difficult to actually get the bottle back in since it is so snug. I kep say "if only this was a millimeter or two more in total circumference it would be perfect -- able to get the bottle in pretty easily and still snug.
Overall though --- they were great.
I used one to hold a 20 oz bottle and then the other for snacks / bars and such and it kept me with my pack on and not having to get it on and off so much,
Very happy I was able to find these and purchase and use them.
Thanks
I bought several of these type water bottle holders online and tried them all out. The Elemental Horizon's was the best. It flopped around the lease and was the best size for the 1/2 liter bottle I carry. I use it on my Deuter pack
I tried two at first, one on each shoulder, but have settled on one. It holds a 20 oz Smart Water bottle nicely. The small pocket works well for an energy bar. I am satisfied with this product.
I recently used 2 of these on a 33degree C day hiking in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. They were much easier to use than a bladder. I could get a good deep drink without getting out of breath. And it was just as convenient. I carried 1.2 lites or 1.2 kg of water displaced from my back pack to my front where I did not notice it at all. I set them high so that they would not rub my arms. To do this I needed 4 clips but only 2 clips were provided. Well thought out Mathew
I got tired sucking on a bladder and when I saw a hiker with one of these bottle holders on his shoulder strap I decided to give it a try. Work very well although they flop from side to side when you walk. That is why I only rated 4 stars. I used a safety pin on each side and the flop disappeared. The bottle holders are perfect for .5 liter bottles. I am going to buy 2 more for another pack. Ditch the bladder and get a couple of these.
